Rocky Stars Community Campus
Rocky Ford, CO
Discover Rocky Stars Community Campus, a small tuition-free school that offers project and mastery-based learning in a nurturing environment. At Rocky Stars, we give our students more autonomy over their learning than is typical in traditional schools. We teach both academic and practical skills through mastery-based and inquiry-led learning models, with a heavy emphasis on guided projects. Students receive a strong foundation in Math and English through mastery-based programs tailored to their specific needs. We explore topics such as civics, history, the sciences, and arts through a combination of experiments, inquiry-led research, multimedia projects, and writing assignments. Students also build important life skills like time management, emotional regulation, communication skills, responsibility, initiative, basic housekeeping, financial literacy, and more. A portion of our day is also set aside for students to explore their interests through self-guided, project-based learning.
Our Focus at Rocky Stars Community Campus
Our purpose is to help students achieve their goals and become self-driven learners who can play an active role in their education, in order to prepare them for life as adults. Parents/guardians play an important role in this process. We look at each learner individually and create a personalized learning plan for every student. Our focus goes beyond academics, holistically ensuring that students are learning, safe, happy, and growing. Socialemotional learning, addressing and resolving safety/security or bullying issues promptly and restoratively, and helping each child discover how they fit into their community and the world are high on our priorities list! Our focuses yield important life and career skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, and problem-solving.
